The ASUS ROG Strix Scar Edition GL703GS was updated in 2018.
To complete the immersive experience, the ASUS ROG Strix Scar Edition GL703GS has a display that gives you stunning and immersive visuals at 1080p HD and 144Hz refresh rate.
Its side-firing speakers pump out enough sound to fill any room, and you will be totally blown away by its promise of 2x more volume, 3x more bass power, and 1.5x more dynamic range. Plus, with a three-way cooling system that automatically adjusts depending on how heavy the task you are doing is, it feels like it has been designed with the ultimate gamer in mind.
One of the biggest disappointments with this machine, is the very short battery life. Granted, we do not expect very long battery lives in these kind of laptops, keeping in mind the sort of processing power they have to produce.
However, when it comes to the ASUS ROG Strix Scar Edition GL703GS, it is significantly less than the performance of its counterparts. For instance, expect only about 3 hours of movie watching time when on balanced mode at 30% brightness.
The trackpad feels cheap and inaccurate, with its buttons forcing you to press down hard if you want to get any reaction out of them.
Like the Asus Rog Strix? We've got you covered.
The keyboard also takes some getting used to. Although it looks fabulous, you will soon realize that the thin number pads are hard to press quickly and the arrow keys are placed in a very weird position.
When all is said and done, there is more to love about this beautiful 17-inch laptop than there is to hate.
The ASUS ROG Strix Scar Edition GL703GS will perform far beyond your expectations, giving you that ultimate experience that you have always dreamt of. This Asus is a very good 17-inch laptop.

The Asus VivoBook Pro is an elegant laptop for the professional on a budget. If you are looking for a powerful laptop that does not break the bank, this 15.6-inch beauty may be it.
Visually, it looks similar to the Zenbook, with its brushed aluminum case that gives it a sophisticated look. Thin and stable, it looks and feels great in your hands.
It is a little disappointing when it comes to display quality, betraying the corners Asus had to cut to put a laptop of this level of power at that price to market. It uses an inferior Innolux panel with 1080p TN, which gives it ok brightness but subpar luminance and rather poor contrast.
Like the Asus Rog Strix? We've got you covered.
This means using it outdoors or in direct sunlight is a no-no. It also disappoints even further when it comes to viewing angles, forcing you to keep adjusting the lid to get a comfortable angle.
The Asus VivoBook Pro comes loaded with an Intel Core i7 7700HQ processor with an NVIDIA GTX 1050 Graphics card and 16GB of RAM.
That is sufficient power to handle almost anything you throw at it, and when combined with the 256GB SSD and the 1TB HDD, the VivoBook becomes a very powerful laptop. It will impress most professionals, including designers, render artists and other creatives. It is even able to comfortably run a few heavy games or do video editing at ease.
Be careful not to push it to its limits with games, because it is not a very powerful laptop. It manages occasional gaming just fine, though.
This is the 17-inch laptop for you if you are in need of a comfortable working experience on a tight budget. It packs a lot of processing power, and if you are willing to overlook the display issues it has, it is worth considering.

Slim, sexy, very fresh and even more powerful: this is the new Zephyrus S gamer notebook, which has just one weak point in addition to a few inexplicably forgotten little things.
The Zephyrus S model represents the upper segment from the upper category, with a very powerful configuration.

Acer has been a stable member of the gaming laptop market for many years, with very nice results.
The Taiwanese manufacturer's products are not only high-quality, but in many cases they even add custom solutions. The Predator Triton 900, for example, comes with a rotatable display, which is not a common thing in the world of gamer laptops.
The Acer Predator Helios 700 at first glance looks “just” like a very powerful 17-inch gaming laptop, but if we dig a little deeper, we can see that the engineers threw it with an interesting twist. up the well-known concept: It has been given a retractable keyboard for better cooling. On paper, this idea is exciting, but the questions is, how does it perform in practice.
Like the Acer Helios 700? We've got you covered.
The main attraction of the Helios 700 is the slide able keyboard for better cooling. The keyboard of the machine can be pulled forward in essentially a single motion, freeing up two huge fans that can that can get into the cooling of the machine.
The soul of the machine is an Intel Core i9-9980HK processor, and we also get 16 GB of RAM and a GeForce RTX 2080 video card. Both of these are more than enough to play any of the most recent games, especially on Windows 10 which may earn a little bit more performance for you.
The Predator Helios 700 is a true gamer laptop. It’s big enough, loud enough, but on the other hand, we don’t expect a laptop that is sharpened for gaming to be quiet or light.

HOW TO CHOOSE A 17 INCH LAPTOP? A BUYERS GUIDE
If you are looking to purchase a laptop with a larger screen, there are some things that you will have get down first.
What are you going to use the laptop for? Are you a gamer that is looking for a laptop with the latest hardware and the best specs? Are you someone who uses their laptop for work and it needs to be slim and needs a long lasting battery?
All of these come into play when choosing the best 17 inch laptop, but we will look at some general things you will need to keep in mind when choosing.
GPU: If you are going to be gaming on your laptop or editing/rendering videos, you will need a powerful GPU (Graphics Card) built in your laptop. Decent high-end laptops usually have the most recent GPU as the RTX 2060 or RTX 2080, although these are pretty pricey.
If you will be just casually browsing or editing documents, or just looking for an affordable laptop, the built in internal GPU will do just fine.
CPU: This is the second most important thing when it comes to laptop specs. This is basically the heart of your laptop, and if you get a CPU that is not strong enough, you might end up with a laptop that struggles with daily tasks.
If you are looking for an affordable option getting a laptop with an Intel Core i5 CPU or a Ryzen 5 could do the work.
If you are an amid gamer, you want to look at the high-end options like the Intel Core i7s or Ryzen 7s.
Display: Choosing the right screen is an important step as well to choosing the right laptop for you. If you are looking to carry your laptop around, we recommend getting a laptop with a 13 or 15 inch screen, but if you are thinking about gaming or a desktop replacement, a 17 inch screen is a must.
In terms of resolution, most budget laptops come with lower resolution screens, but we recommend buy a laptop with a Full HD, IPS screen. Screen size is definitely something that you should be choose according to your preferences, so if you have the chance we recommend checking a few laptop before buying.
Battery: If you travel a lot with your laptop, we recommend getting one with a decent and powerful battery. This is something that you unfortunately cannot upgrade or change, so you will have to stick with what you get.
Most laptops offer about 4-5 hours of battery time if you don't do any heavy resource intensive tasks, but a high-end gaming 17-inch laptop will only last you an hour or two if you are playing games on max. Your GPU is going to be consuming a lot of power if run on maximum power.
RAM: Getting the right amount of memory is very important. Here at Simplylaptop we stick be the minimum 8 GB of RAM rule, but if you get a very small laptop with a budget OS like Chrome OS, you can manage with 4 GB , but don't expect a lot of performance.
If you are thinking about getting a high end laptop, consider to buy one with at least 16 GB or 32 GB of RAM.
Storage: Storage is not only important because it gives you space to store your files on, but choosing the right storage means speed too.
Older HDD don't have the reading and writing speed as newer SSDs and NVMe SSD have.
We only recommend buying a new laptop if it comes with an SSD or if you can't find one like that, then installing one after the purchase.
Talking about size, you should aim at least 250-500 GBs of storate, although 1 TB is better to have. Trust us, you are going to need it!
